September 11, 2015 | jarred@ya.org

Young Audiences of Houston and Houston Arts Partners are proud to present their 5th annual Houston Arts Partners Conference. The conference will be held September 11 and 12, 2015 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. This year’s conference theme, The Arts Fuel Innovation, places the focus on the relationship between the arts and vital components of tomorrow’s creative economy: creativity, versatility, collaboration, and innovation.

The Houston Arts Partners Conference is a unique idea-sharing and arts integration training event for Texas artists and educators, which aims to give attendees a better understanding of why arts integration is vital to a complete learning experience and offer best practices for implementing arts-integrated strategies in their classrooms.

This year’s conference will feature four nationally-recognized arts education figures as keynote presenters – John Abodeely, Deputy Director of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities; Jessica Hamlin, Director of Education Initiatives for ART21; dance and theatre innovator Liz Lerman; and musician, educator, and motivator Larry Livingston. More information about the 2015 keynote speakers is available at www.houstonartspartners.org.

The conference will also feature presentations from 10 of Houston's outstanding arts organizations and their education partners, as well as panel discussions of critical topics in arts education. The Arts Fuel Innovation will offer resources for campus and district decision-makers, teaching artists, and teachers of science, math, ELA, social studies, and all arts disciplines. Unearthing critical connections between arts education, arts integration, and success in other core and STEM subjects; the diverse presentations on offer draw on exemplary partnerships between Houston’s schools and organizations, which collectively serve over 600,000 children through arts and arts education programming, both during and after school. Armed with these arts-based tools and the support of these ongoing partnerships, teachers leaving the conference are better equipped to prepare their students for opportunities and challenges still in the making.
