Last month, we joined with our network to celebrate National Young Audiences Arts for Learning Week, an annual advocacy initiative to spotlight the importance of arts in education for all students.

In a letter dated April 19, 2022, President Biden expressed that he and the first lady were "honored to join those celebrating National Young Audiences Arts for Learning Week."

"The past two years have been exceptionally challenging for so many across our Nation and world," President Biden wrote, adding that YA Week "is a reminder that young Americans can foster hope, acceptance, and inspiration through artistic creation."

Biden praised YA's role in "ensuring that art continues to play an essential role in our Nation's vitality, democracy, health, and economy," and "above all, by bridging the gap of inequality and empowering the next generation of artists…helping America heal and grow."

President Biden's acknowledgment follows a long tradition of Presidential letters commemorating YA Week, dating back to the Nixon administration.
