Young Audiences Arts for Learning (YA) would like to welcome John Alecca to the YA network. John Alecca is the new Executive Director at Young Audiences of Northern California.

Throughout his career as an arts administrator and marketing communications executive, John has had the privilege to work in both non-profit arts and commercial entertainment industries and has developed a variety of initiatives and programs that lead each institution into the new stages of development. Adept at building mutually beneficial business partnerships, John has developed a unique blend of creative, strategic, and entrepreneurial programs. He has worked for Blue Man Group Las Vegas, Mesa Arts Center/City of Mesa, the Arts & Business Council of Greater Phoenix, Lamplighters Music Theatre, Magic Theatre and CuriOdyssey (Coyote Point Museum for Environmental Education). Coincidentally, John’s first professional job in 1980 was with Theatre Flamenco of San Francisco and their program Yo Soy was one of Young Audiences of Northern California's roster of programs.

As a senior a partner in PJDesign Management, John’s clients have included Early Alert Canines (diabetic alert dogs), The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus and New Conservatory Theatre Company. Most recently, John has worked at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts as Interim Director of Marketing, where he designed and implemented a comprehensive Customer Service Training program.

An avid fan of Rugby, John believes that the character-building principles and ethics of the sport: integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline and respect adapt well within the non-profit business environment offering a positive attitude and determination towards achieving the greater good.
