Announcing Young Audiences of Northern California's New Executive Director Emily Garvie

July 02, 2015 | jarred@ya.org

Young Audiences Arts for Learning is very pleased to announce that effective July 1, Emily Garvie will assume the position of Executive Director of Young Audiences of Northern California. Emily has been a staff member of Young Audiences of Northern California for the past four years, serving in fundraising and development and, most recently, as Interim Executive Director.

Emily brings experience both as an administrator and as a professional artist to her leadership of YANC. Before transitioning to a career in arts administration, Emily studied music at Yale and Manhattan School of Music, and performed opera professionally in the United States and Germany. While singing professionally, Emily worked as a teaching artist and discovered the magic of bringing artists and students together.

In addition to her work at Young Audiences, Emily serves on the Executive Committee of the Arts Providers Alliance of San Francisco and is an active participant in development and executive committees of the Young Audiences National Network. Emily is also a Bay Area native and lives in the Outer Sunset with her husband, son, and black lab.

Emily's deep roots in the Bay Area and knowledge of the arts education community will support and guide this exciting new chapter in Young Audiences' story. Her dedication to the arts will inspire growth as we expand our services to more Bay Area schools, and engage new artists in partnership.

YA hopes you will join the Board of Directors in congratulating Emily on her new position.
