Young Audiences New York
Serving tens of thousands of students in the New York City metropolitan area
Originally founded in 1952 as a platform for a series of chamber music recitals, Young Audiences New York has grown from modest beginnings into one of the most diverse and innovative arts-in-education organizations in the country. In the past year alone, Young Audiences New York expanded the scope of our programming, collaborated with many new and often critically-underfunded schools and communities, and explored new directions in education with great results, these include trans-formative theater, creative place-making projects, and teen corporate mentorships with Facebook, Now this Media and AMC Networks.
Young Audiences New York's programming affects over 45,000 young people and their families taking place in over 100 schools and community organizations across the metropolitan area. Its roster of teaching artists numbers over 60 individuals and ensembles, including many well-known professional musicians, actors, painters, sculptors, filmmakers and authors. These teachers represent one of our organization’s strongest assets: skilled, determined and innovative educator-creators, capable of delivering curricula efficiently and effectively through the medium of art-making and instruction.
