Young Audiences of Maryland
Young Audiences/Arts for Learning (YAMD) is Maryland's leading arts-in-education organization and provides a wide range of services, including assemblies, residencies, and professional development services. YAMD's roster of nearly 50 visual and performing artists are highly experienced and each program is guaranteed to connect to the Maryland State Curriculum. YAMD provides 4,000 assemblies and residencies to more than 200,000 Maryland schoolchildren each year. Along with a robust schedule of programs, Young Audiences/Arts for Learning also provides art educators with grant and development support.
In April, YAMD hosted the 2012 Young Audiences National Conference in Baltimore. The National Conference addressed the theme of building creative connections and plenary sessions informed participants of the latest in cognitive science and the impact of the arts on brain development and learning.
YAMD has made it a priority to provide deeply-discounted programs for underserved, special needs, and Title I schools, through the Access for All and Rural Access for All initiatives. These signature programs help principals with limited resources provide hands-on learning in the arts that supplement and enrich their curriculum.
