Arts for Learning Miami Fuses History, Music, Ethics and Cartography, Culminating in New "Synthesis" Exhibition

This Saturday, September 6th, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm,  Arts for Learning Miami- an affiliate of Young Audiences Arts for Learning- will be presenting the opening reception for their new exhibition entitled Synthesis. This exhibition will feature works of art by six high school students who are alumni of Arts for Learning Miami's Lewis Art Studio program. Synthesis will mark the culmination of the week-long Lewis Arts Studio Alumni Institute.

The Lewis Arts Studio Program provides intensive arts training to interested middle school students. The students meet five days a week during a four week session in the summer and then the group meets on a monthly basis throughout the school year. During these sessions, the students recieve instruction from professional artists and participate in excursions to local cultural organizations in order to further develop their artistic technique, and prepare for high school auditions.

This exhibition is part of the Lewis Arts Studio Alumni Program, which is designed to provide continued camaraderie and peer support for LAS Alumni after their graduation from the program; through their high school years and beyond. The participants in the alumni program meet bi-monthly to enhance their artistic growth, exhibit their work publicly, participate in artistic competitions and meet with professionals in the arts.
