Young Audiences New York Names Eileen Doyle Executive Director

Young Audiences New York, recently announced the appointment of Eileen Doyle as executive director of Young Audiences New York, (YANY), one of the nation's leading nonprofit arts education organizations. In this role, Ms. Doyle will lead YANY in its ongoing collaboration with the New York City public school system to provide arts-based instruction to support learning in core academic subjects, including reading and math.  Currently YANY services over 80 schools and institutions throughout the New York metropolitan area with an array of arts education performances, teaching artist residences, family programs and professional development programs.  Ms. Doyle will also be responsible for raising the visibility of YANY in the community and increasing donor support.

Ms. Doyle joins Young Audiences New York after serving as Vice President of Program at the national headquarters of Girl Scouts of the USA. There, she worked in partnership with regional affiliates across the country to create high quality, measurable, experiential learning programs for girls.  In addition, Ms. Doyle collaborated with the national board on clarifying their mission statement to focus on the needs of girls today, and went on to work with teams of staff and volunteers around the country to put innovative programming in place for 2.3 million girls in Kindergarten through Grade12.  A major part of her efforts were centered around making Girl Scouting a better partner for schools by strengthening experiential learning opportunities that provided girls with opportunities to develop key 21st Century skills—correlated to the Common Core State Standards—such as problem solving, critical thinking, the ability to innovate and the motivation to seek challenges.  As new programs have taken off, Ms. Doyle loved hearing stories from girls around the country about how they used their leadership skills to change their world.  Prior to Girl Scouts of the USA, Ms. Doyle held management positions at Oxford Health Plans, Town of Huntington Youth Bureau and Friends of Island Academy. 

Ms. Doyle has participated in key educational initiatives and events including: Social Innovation Challenge Awards (2013); Terry McAdam Book Award Review Committee for the Alliance for Nonprofit Management,  (2013); Social Think Tank on Innovation in Education at MIT (2012) and Federal Partners in Bullying Prevention Summit (2011 & 2012). 

Ms. Doyle graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Art History.  She is a recipient of the Hunter College School of Social Work’s Goldfein Award for a paper on community organization and completed a civic leadership program from Coro Leadership New York in 2006.
