Leader of YA’s NE Ohio Affiliate Named Among 2019 Women of Note by Crain’s Cleveland Business

Marsha Dobrzynski, Executive Director of Young Audiences Arts for Learning’s (YA) Northeast Ohio affiliate, the Center for Arts Inspired Learning (CAL), has been selected as one of Crain’s Cleveland Business’ 2019 Women of Note. The annual feature salutes a group of “inspiring women whose dedication and achievements enrich Northeast Ohio, its institutions and its people.” Dobrzynski is one of just 16 honorees selected by a panel of Crain’s editors to receive the award this year.

The profile of Dobrzynski highlights CAL’s growth over the past 25 years under her direction. The profile also discusses Dobrzynski’s career in nursing prior to her joining YA’s Northeast Ohio affiliate, and her passion for strengthening the Greater Cleveland community through the arts.

Dobrzynski told Crain’s, “I see the future of our community in young people…and I want to be one of those people that helps them be successful.” She added, “We have to educate for the future that we don’t even know.” One of the ways in which CAL prepares young people for the future is with their job training and college readiness program, ArtWorks. Dobrzynski spoke to the publication on the program’s focus on financial literacy and résumé writing skills, in addition to its arts apprenticeships for high school students.

Dobrzynski and all of Crain’s Cleveland Business’ 2019 Women of Note will be honored at a luncheon at Cleveland’s Public Auditorium on Wednesday, July 17.

This accolade comes on the heels of last month’s recognition by Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Cleveland City Council, who presented Dobrzynski with a Resolution of Appreciation acknowledging her contributions to the city during her 25 years leading CAL.
