COMPAS Summer Youth Employment Program

The YA Minnesota affiliate, COMPAS had a very successful youth employment program this summer. Thirty teenage apprentice artists worked on two mosaic projects and one theater project. Inspirations for their mosaic commission at Lyngblomsten (a continuing care center and our first inter-generational project) and the huge, wall-sized commission at The Canvas (an arts-focused rec center that COMPAS runs in partnership with Saint Paul Parks and Recreation) were both drawn from the heritage of their surrounding neighborhoods. Check out the documentation of the two mosaic mural projects - images for the  Lyngblomsten project and The Canvas rec center

Apprentices learned a new art form and acquired job skills such as resume writing, career planning, problem solving, conflict resolution, and more. They worked with youth from across the Twin Cities and created stunning art.
