Emerging Leaders Institute
The Young Audiences Emerging Leaders Institute (ELI) is an intensive professional development program for highly motivated individuals who are committed to strengthening their skills and competencies in order to become transformational leaders in the arts-in-education field. Generous support for this program has been provided by the American Express Foundation.
Participants explore various management disciplines, including leadership, program design, marketing and fund development, through a variety of methodologies, including lectures, simulations, small group discussions, individualized feedback, and coaching. The Institute's curriculum design incorporates face to face meetings, supplemented by continuous peer-to-peer online learning opportunities.
Participants first attend a three-day Emerging Leaders Intensive, designed to provide emerging leaders with a foundational understanding of strategic management and leadership development across multiple professional disciplines. Workshops will be designed and led in collaboration with a local Young Audiences affiliate.
Participants then reconvene for Young Audience Arts for Learning’s National Conference in the spring. ELI participants have the opportunity to lead workshops during the conference showcasing the design, implementation strategies, and preliminary results from their strategy projects. Participants also meet for a wrap-up session to reflect and provide feedback on the year's activities.
The ELI program is designed for mid- and senior-level managers with at least five years of professional experience in arts education or a related field. Applications for the 2019 program will be accepted in the coming fall. Information will be provided on this page once available.
